SLEEPING LIKE A ...

Different idioms for sleepyheads.

Monday is normally a hard day, getting up early and energized seems to be impossible at the beginning of the week.

Today I woke up thinking of the English idiom sleep like a log and similar idioms in other languages, and I realized we use the same animals, apart from the famous log.

In German, they use Schlafen wie ein Murmeltier (sleep like a groundhog).

In Italian, they use another animal, dormire come un ghiro (sleep like a dormouse).

In Spanish, we use translations of these three languages, we use dormir como un tronco (sleep like a log), dormir como una marmota (sleep like a groundhog) and also dormir como un lirón (sleep like a dormouse).

However you say it in your mother tongue, I hope you are awake and ready for the day.

Let me finish with an inspirational Monday quote: Each Monday is a canvas and only you choose with which colors you’ll paint it, you create your own mood.

Have a nice week!
